HOW TO CONSUME EDIBLES

Maybe you know how to eat and drink but never had an edible (cannabis-infused food or drink). Maybe you had too much or too little of an edible in the past and want to try again. Maybe you want a friendly someone to tell you you’re doing it right. Hi.

To begin, and always: Start Low and Go Slow. This is the edibles mantra, repeated worldwide.

LOW means the strength of the cannabis—CBD, THC, or both—in the edible. It’s is measured in milligrams (mg). Your goal is to figure out the number of milligrams right for you. Your perfect dose. Don’t worry about what works for anyone else. Your body is unique. Do start low.

A low or micro-dose is generally defined as 2mg or less THC, and 10mg or less CBD. It’s okay to start with less than 1mg THC. Less is more. You can always add. Which brings us to…

SLOW means the amount of time you wait to determine how you feel, and if you should eat more. When you eat cannabinoids they’re absorbed through your digestive system. It can take 30, 60, or even up to 120 minutes for you to feel the effects. And then they last for hours more. This is one reason we like CBD before bed.

Cannabis drinks will take effect faster than cannabis foods. 30 to 60 minutes. Either way, wait at least two hours after eating or drinking your first dose.

How to: About Us

HOW DO YOU FEEL?

  • All good? Maybe you’re set.

  • Not feeling anything? Yes you could immediately eat a little more, 2mg or less THC, but we recommend waiting 24 hours and starting over. This time with, say, 4mg THC (assuming you started with 2mg). Repeat the process until you find the number of milligrams (dose) best for you. Minimum amount is your goal.

REGARDING FEELS

  1. If you’re ingesting CBD isolate or Broad Spectrum CBD, you won’t feel anything in the intoxication sense. You may feel calmer, or your shoulders may relax, or you may sleep better. But the absence of THC means you’re not going to get high. So, in some ways, you won’t feel anything at all. Think of this like taking ibuprofen. You won’t notice things happening.

  2. If you’re ingesting Full Spectrum CBD, or other combination of CBD+THC, you may feel a mellow, faint high. If it’s anything it’s chill, like a beer or glass of wine (see: Your body is unique), and nuanced because CBD balances THC. When you’re ready, you can explore this path, the perfect ratio of CBD:THC for you.

  3. If you’re ingesting THC, or mostly THC, here’s where the real feels come in. Have we mentioned your body is unique? With THC you may feel creative, confused, euphoric, focused, lightheaded, lighthearted, paranoid, relaxed, relieved.

A COUPLE MORE THINGS

Beware of milligrams. Check Serving Size v. total package amount. If a package does not list these details, find one that does. Seriously. Buy edibles that clearly state dosage.

Finally—in edibles and in life—always have

non-cannabinoid food and drink within reach to snack on.
